Wanted to Rent - Flatbed Trailer

Does anyone have, or know of a flatbed trailer I could borrow or rent? I may need to move an item (Ambulance Body) from NY to Pensacola, if I can't get it shipped. I'm not having much luck with the local rental places.

    The body is 13' L x 8' W x 9' H and weighs approximately 4,500 lbs.

Most car carriers will not work because the body will not fit between the fenders, so it really needs to be a flatbed with the wheels below the deck, like the ones in the pictures below.

This small one below would be ideal as long as it would carry the weight.

I'm not even sure I could make this trip myself, so if you or anyone you know might be interested in the job, that is an option also. You could pack your skis and enjoy a free snow skiing trip while you're there.

Pat I am glad you clarified about the flat bed. Tim has one that we carry farm equipment on BUT it does have fenders so I don't think it will work for you. Do you know the guy that owns Blue Angel Automotive? He has loaned me one in the past to carry a set of marine diesel engines on.

Gene, no unfortunately I don't know that guy.

I talked to the owner of the Ambulance body today after I made that post. I've been trying to get him to call me for several days, but they have been in the middle of that blizzard that hit the NE, and had 31" of snow last night. He owns a snow removal business on the side, so you can imagine how busy they have been.

Anyway, he said it is sitting on pallets in the parking lot and there is a company across the street that has some heavy equipment, such as a big fork lift and a crane, so using a trailer with sides may not be out of the question. Getting it unloaded at my house may be fun, but if it was on a privately owned trailer where I had some leeway as far as time goes, I'm sure I could figure something out.

I don't really want to make that drive so I'm still looking into shipping it, but if it comes down to it, and Cliff's trailer is an option I will certainly keep that in mind.

    Thanks...

    Thanks Dwayne,

If I can get it shipped, I would only need to move it locally.

    Hi Pat,

You are welcome to use my car hauler trailer anytime, but it is narrow w/fenders. A friend used it to haul his 36 Chevy pickup to Colorado, but it took some "Redneck" modifications.

Let me know if I can help.

    Thanks Tom!

There are there or four ways to do this, but I keep running into blank walls, so I've got some more details to work out first.

    I'll let you know...

    Bill,

I read your post before you edited it, and I have certainly considered doing something like that, but only for a local move. I have just about ruled out going after it myself, because I couldn't do it by myself and the guy that was going with me can't make it due do his health problems. He is a retired Firefighter with back problems also, and has had two strokes, along with cardiac problems.

So, right now I'm focusing on having it shipped, and trying to find a facility with some kind of lift or big forklift where it can be unloaded and maybe even sit for a couple of days, until I can make arrangements to get it home from there.

    Thanks for your suggestions though...
