Anyone using these, I bought the Piranta and so far it has been used on a deer and worked great, probably can do 2-3 more without changing the blade. I hate sharpening knives and this one is sharper than humanly possible to get a knife.

I like a super sharp knife and also hate to sharpen them because I am not very good at it. I checked out the filet knives but the blade is only 5 inches. That seems a little short to me. (insert wise crack here) But other than that they look like something I would like to try. Thanks for sharing.
Frank, did you order this from the attached site or did you get it from Amazon(or others) ??? Will pick me up one just so I can be a mountain man like you. --- SAWMAN
Sawman I googled for the best price for the knife I wanted. I think the Barracuda is a bit larger for your mountain man hands
Atwood, the Baracuda is a longer knife with longer blades. Remember also I am a hunter and bought skinning knife blades, they also have a selection of longer fillet blades you use on the same knife body...hop that helps!

Frank - How long is the blade on the Piranta? It looks like the blades are a lot cheaper for the Piranta vs. the Baracuta, but I'm guessing they are a lot shorter too.
Smitty, they are 2 3/4" in the skinning blade, this Piranta is small and light, the other one is longer and has a fillet blade also. You need very little pressure for the knife to work so the weight of them is not an issue. Frank

Thanks, I'll go with the smaller one and move up to the larger one if there's a need.
Smitty, the blades do last a long time, that is why I just use skinning, not cutting, the hook blade going thru the hair and skin takes the real abuse, saving the havalon for the inside work. I have used the same hook blade for 3 hogs though...lol I have and carry other knives for regular cutting where you would like or need some weight behind the blade. Good Luck!
