    Blackwater bay question

This is my first season with a boat and fishing Blackwater bay. Yesterday I was fishing around yellow river at a point and caught a mangrove. Is it common that they come that far north? I was pretty surprised and questioned that it was a mangrove and threw it back without measuring but it had to be anywhere between 8 and 12 in. Thanks.

I think they are caught pretty far inland in South Florida, so I don't see any reason why they would not do the same here......

I've caught them in the mouth of Perdido River.
