"A" Team of Capt. Terry, Ed, Skip, and myself - check.....
KATHY II out of mothballs - check......
Hell, lets go to the Edge . Launched at SCM after a slight delay (Ed told me 0630!). Capt. Terry headed us out of the pass on rolling seas.
Hit the Edge and rolled up the weather protection and started dropping squid and Skip jigging!
Small AJs and Mingo were coming in, but it was a slow bite.
Terry finally got tired of holding on the spots and dropped to show us what a keeper Mingo was - yea, fish for the box!
Ed was hooked up and huffing and puffing for about 15 mins - pulling up a log, and up pops about a 35" Redfish. Sent him on his way...
While the bite was slow, whatever we did manager to hook was quickly attacked by the porpi - it was almost impossible to bring something to the surface without them grabbing, running, letting go, grabbing again, and just frustrating the hell out of everyone. Moved a few times, but a duo always found us (had a unique dorsal fin nick!). Still managed a few here and there, but the AJs weren't producing.
As usual, everyone had their share of the Scarce ARS!
Skip finally managed a nice 32" AJ for the box - we luv the guy!
A few good Mingo were also still comming in....
As has been the norm the past few trips, Skip either jigs up, or in this case, bottom fishin', hauls in a beautiful Gag. Think that's about the 6th hugh Gag that he has landed in the past 3 trips. Have a nice swim back down Gaggy.....
Seas layed down slightly around Noon, and the Sun felt nice, but the bite was getting worse, or non-existent, so we started to prepare for the trip home. One Last Cast Skip hooks up with something big - - feel like a big hammerhead???? Where the hell is it????
Finally, a beautiful AJ surfaces, is gaffed, and comes bleeding aboard!
Measured out about 48" and felt like about 65-70 lbs!
Yea, get to use the body-bag again - did I say we luv Skippy????
Well, it wasn't a box-stuffing day, but everyone had a nice bag of AJ chunks and other filets for the dinner table; and, of course, time with ya buddies, enjoying the Gom, the good B.S, and some cool ones - LIFE IS GOOD! John
Some day's are just a little tougher than others but all day's fishing are good. Glad ya'll were able to get out. Pretty aj there Skip. Nice work. Thanks for posting.

Great report guys! Skip, I'll give you a 12 pack if you'll have to teach me your jigging tricks some time! That's a hoss of an AJ and that gag is nice too.
I have been with you guys and the fish are just a bonus. The company and enjoyment of the water is the main reason for going. Thanks for sharing and the pictures were great.
