Labor Unions In New York

First, i am not a union buster. I think they have done a commendable job over the years. The workers in places like China need their help in getting out of the poverty stage. However....

In New York City the school board wanted to get rid of some teachers they felt were incompetent. The teachers union stepped in and said NO (would you expect less?). When the negotiations were finally over, the school board had agreed to:
1. To expunge the records of all current teachers thereby giving them a fresh start.
2. No teacher can be considered for removal until 2014
3. Beginning in 2014 any teacher deemed incompetent has two years to improve their performance

Wonder what ever happened to putting the interest of the children first??

And, from firsthand experience, my sister is doing a consulting project at a hospital in Buffalo where one of the employees was caught selling prescription drugs at work and she had stolen the drugs from her employer...Union said she could be terminated but the hospital would have to give her a 60 day severance check..

The children (and their future) are the ones that have the most to lose. No such thing as victims rights anymore. They have no say in the matter.

I am a member of a nationwide union, and can get fired for anything!!! and I mean anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....I also was in a union before this one( factory.... aerospace/machinist union) that took a lot to get fired from....I can't call the teachers a labor union....and that is one bad thing about the unions.... I never liked, they keep the jobs for people that don't deserve them....
I feel very fortunite to have been in the Ironworkers union and have worked extremely hard over the years to be able to retire from it....with all my digits and extremities and health so far....and a lot of people when they find out what we really do...wouldn't do it for any amount of money....I don't care for the service unions at all (government)...and not the people, but some people just don't need saved with there jobs, that they don't do!...sorry if I offended any one.... on here

Bottom line: Incompetence should ALWAYS be a good reason for being terminated. As soon as that is off the table, we automatically lost....
